Isfahan - Multi Purple / Turquoise

Isfahan takes its name from the city that Shah Abbas I rebuilt in the early seventeenth century as a capital so beautiful that the Persians had a saying for it: Esfahān nesf-e jahān — Isfahan is half the world. The tilework alone would justify the reputation. The mosques, the bridges, the bazaar arcades — every surface covered in patterns so intricate and so precisely interlocking that they function as both geometry and theology, the infinite rendered in glazed ceramic. Home Couture's Isfahan translates that decorative vocabulary into a hand screen-printed textile on pure linen: the medallions, the scrolling arabesques, the layered symmetry that rewards the eye no matter how long you look at it. Purple and turquoise is the colorway that comes closest to the actual palette of Isfahan's Imam Mosque, where those two colors meet on seventeenth-century tilework that has not faded in four hundred years.

The fabric is hand screen-printed in the USA on linen ground, then made into a medium tote — professionally backed and lined in water-resistant nylon, which means the inside takes care of itself while the outside carries four centuries of Persian decorative tradition. The linen will soften with use without losing the print. The nylon means you stop worrying about what goes in the bag and start thinking about where the bag goes. Isfahan was half the world. This is enough of it to carry with you.
